Robert (Bob) Raymond Wilson, Jr., 97 passed away December 31st, 2019, in Manhattan, Kansas.
He was born June 2, 1922 to Robert Raymond (Ray) Sr. and Opal Sager Wilson in Council Grove, Kansas. Bob married his beloved Mary Emma Shivers on December 18, 1965 in Washington, D.C. They remained in Maryland until moving back to Council Grove in 2014.
Bob grew up on the family farm and attended Council Grove schools. He enjoyed playing in the school band and being involved in agriculture classes. After graduating high school, Bob attended and graduated from Kansas State College of Agriculture and Applied Science, with an electrical engineering degree. Bob began working for Navy Ordnance Laboratory, then moved on to, and retired from Goddard Space Center. Both jobs were in Maryland.
While in Maryland, Bob was very active in the Mt Vernon Place UMC, Masons, Eastern Star, KSU Alumni and several other service and volunteer organizations.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary, his parents, brother and sister-in-law T. Sager and Madonna Wilson, great nephew Ethan Carroll and nephew Ron Wilson. He is survived by nieces Janet Stephenson, Linda Borth (Jerry), and Nancy Carroll; nephews Richard Wilson (Mary) and Rodney Wilson (Dawn); and great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 1:30, Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the First Congregational UCC.
