Obituary

Billy LaVern Brown passed away shortly before noon on Sunday, March 29th at the age of 92 at Diversicare of Council Grove. He was born June 13, 1927 to Clifford and Bertha (Morgan) Brown. He lived his entire life in the Dwight community. He attended a school in the country near his home through 8th grade and then Alta Vista High School where he graduated in 1945.  He married Rosemary Elizabeth Zeckser on July 28, 1946. They raised four children, Barbara, Kenneth, Larry and Jack.

He was a farmer his entire life. He ran a Grade A dairy until 1978 and raised Black Angus until 2009. He spent the last 3 years of his life residing at Diversicare where he enjoyed serenading the nursing staff. Bill is survived by his son Jack and wife JaNell of Dwight, son Larry and wife Stephanie of Dwight and daughter Barbara. Grandchildren, Cristy Hutchinson and husband Jake of Council Grove, Eric Brown and wife Ashley of Emporia, Sara Weaver and husband Jesse of Osage City, Sandra Engstrom, Darren Engstrom , Julie Thurston and husband Brian of Fort Scott, Anna Brown of Illinois, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.                                                                                                          

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Marietta, and his brother Earl, son Kenneth, grandsons Scott Brown and Matt Gillaspie.

He was an active member of The St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta Vista.

There will be no immediate service, but a Celebration of His Life will be scheduled at a later date.
