William George Clark

William “Bill” George Clark, 82 years of age, rural Alta Vista left this world on Monday, May 19th, in his home surrounded by his daughters and wife.

Bill was born July 11, 1942, to George and Beulah Garanson Clark. He attended Alta Vista school and graduated in 1961. He attended Pittsburg State and graduated with a degree in Auto Mechanics. Bill married Sonia Steere at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta Vista on November 22, 1964. After receiving his degree, he and Sonia made their home on the Vic Buchman farm outside of town and still live there today.

Bill’s life was on the farm. He loved being in the tractor or working with his animals. He was never without a few cats and farm dogs. There was a time he would have a cat on the dash and a dog in the seat while he went about his morning chores.

In Bill’s free time he liked to go fast. Many people remember him in his younger days by the vehicle he drove. Always known to have a souped-up car with a big motor. Bill talked about his time at college helping friends work on a jalopy and often teased about giving up his dream of racing to come home and get married.

Bill is survived by his wife Sonia, of the home; daughters Crystal Brabb (Jan) and Cindy Clark; granddaughters Amanda Hesterman (Brian) and Chelsea Brabb (Jordon); bonus grandson, Curtis LaRue; great grandchildren Zachary Brabb and Neenah Hesterman. He is also survived by his sister Mary Moore (Steve); sisters-in-law Shelia Murry and Carolyn Steere; and nephews Joel Steere and Greg Steere (Charla); and a host of friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert.
