Stanley A. Schneider

Stanley A. Schneider, 77, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away on October 22, 2023, at his residence. 

He was born December 2, 1945, to Alvin and Minnie Schneider in Hunter, Kansas.  He graduated from Hunter High School in 1963.  He enjoyed sports: football, baseball and basketball. He was scouted by a professional team for his pitching abilities but was not chosen. 

Stan worked for Ray Forly Electrical Construction Company, building rural and development lines west of Emporia into the late 70’s. Many friends were made while on the construction crew.   In 1969, he started working in Council Grove for Flint Hills RECA as a journeyman lineman.  He was injured in 1984 and worked until 1986. 

Before Stan was married, he would always volunteer to work holidays, allowing co-workers to spend time with their families. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a very good hunter with “good eye” for birds. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hunter, KS and a lifetime member of NRA.

Stan married Patricia Ramsour on August 29, 1981, in Council Grove.  They were married 42 years. Together they traveled to Missouri, Colorado, Illinois and Nebraska. His best trip was Stan and Pat’s anniversary trip to Alaska. 

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and parents; infant brother Dewey; sisters, Linda and Paul Parker, Bonnie and Earl Foster, Kathy and Frank Lovejoy; nieces Doris Jean Parker and Kari Anderson; brother-in-law Kenneth Anderson; and father-in-law Harris Ramsour. 

Stan is survived by his wife Pat, of the home; mother-in-law, Vada Ramsour; sisters-in-law Tena Brecken (Galen), Colleen Anderson; brother-in-law Rocky Ramsour; several nieces, nephews and friends.

At Stanley’s request, he was cremated. A visitation will be held from 5-6:30, Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at Sawyer Chapel.  A graveside service will be held at 11:30am, Friday, Nov. 3, at Greenwood Cemetery in Hunter, KS.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church - Hunter, Kansas or Council Grove Hunter Safety Course. They may be sent to Sawyer Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
