Sharon Jones

Sharon Marie Jones, 80, from Council Grove, KS, entered peacefully into the arms of our heavenly Father on September 1, 2023. She was born on September 20, 1942, in Denver, CO, to Henri & Mary Abromeit. She was the oldest of three kids. On May 26, 1961, at the youthful age of 18, she married H.L. Talley in Oklahoma City. Together they were blessed with two loving sons, Henri and John. They lived in Saint Jo, Texas for several years and then moved to Texarkana, TX. Sharon worked as a phlebotomist while there. H.L. passed away on July 7, 1982.

On December 2, 1983, she was united in marriage to J.D. Jones, Jr. They lived in Texarkana before relocating to Council Grove, KS, in 1989. He passed away on August 21, 2009. She worked at the daycare at Morris County Hospital and then the daycare at Dwight Elementary School. She was “Grandma Sharon” to so many children and she had the privilege of watching two of her own grandkids while at the Dwight daycare which she absolutely loved! In 2010, she started working at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church as Secretary. She was still working there. The church was her second home. She loved visiting with anyone who came through the office door and loved every priest and would treat them as her own. She will be missed by many at the church.

Sharon was a loving mom, mother-in-law, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to so many but her most treasured relationships were with her grandkids, which she loved and adored. Her love for them was beyond measure and she was so proud of them. She enjoyed having them sleepover and enjoyed going to their events and spoiling them as much as she could. She loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and watching the KC Royals. If you ever stopped by her house, you would find her sitting on her couch watching a game. She and her mother went on many cruises & trips together when they were able to. Making lunch on Sundays or going out to eat with her kids was also something she enjoyed. She was a woman who loved her faith and family dearly. She was a member of the St. Rose Altar Society and volunteered at the Morris County Hospital. She served as Council Member for the City of Council Grove for 9 years.

Sharon is survived by her sons, Henri, Manhattan, KS, and John (Patty), Alta Vista, KS, her sister, Carol Rudisill (Jim), Arvada, CO, grandchildren, Krista Talley, Manhattan, KS, Amanda, Jacob, and Aubrey Talley. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. We will forever be grateful for her dear friends, Barb Sommer and Larry Willis, who always took great care of her through the years. She was proceeded in death by her husbands, her parents and brother, Henri Abromeit, Jr., along with many more great friends.
