Raymond Eugene Phillips

Raymond’s life began on December 17, 1961, in Council Grove.  He is the son of Floyd and Laura (Adams) Phillips. Raymond grew up in Wilsey surrounded by his large and loving family.  After high school, he joined the United States Army and lived in Germany for several years.  Upon his return to the United States, Raymond went into partnership with his mother, running Ozark Country Ceramics for close to 20 years.  He was an avid coin and stamp collector.  Raymond loved cars, especially his revolving fleet of limousines. He was a dedicated member of his community in his home of Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he worked as a store manager at Hobby Lobby.  Raymond is survived by his parents, Floyd and Laura Phillips of Georgia; his children Anthony Phillips of Texas and Khrislyn (Travis) Phillips Robinett of Kansas; grandchildren Ashley, Colby, Tyrell, Arrea, Michael and Willow; sister Robin (Kevin) Phillips Lackey of Georgia, nieces and nephews Nate and Max Lackey, Alicia (Aaron) Phillips Maize of Missouri, Matthew Phillips of Montana, and Stephanie Phillips; great nieces and great nephews Dalton and Hadley Maize, Keagan, Chloe, Cayden and Addie Phillips.  Raymond passed away on August 1, 2023, at Merit Health River Region Hospital in Vicksburg.  He is preceded in death by grandparents Clarence and Margaret Phillips and James and Georgia Adams, brothers Ronald and Robert Phillips and grandson Drake Phillips Yancey.  His family will gather with friends on Wednesday August 9, 2023, at Sawyer Funeral Home, Council Grove from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a visitation followed by his funeral service at 1 p.m.  He will be laid to rest in Wilsey Cemetery following the service.  Please sign his online guestbook and leave a memory of Raymond at www.sawyerchapel.com.
