Mary Elizabeth Picolet

Mary Elizabeth Picolet, 75, of Topeka, formerly of Council Grove, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  She was born July 5, 1947 in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of William and Sarah Lottie (Orton) Cashman.

Mary graduated from Alta Vista High School.  She owned and operated the Ritz Theater for over 25 years in Council Grove.  She was a member of the Community Christian Church in Council Grove.  She later became a private caregiver for the elderly.  Mary and her husband, Davy moved to Tecumseh in the spring of 2014.  She was a member of the Highland Heights Christian Church in Tecumseh.

Mary married Davy Picolet on October 1, 1966 in the Pleasant Ridge Church in Morris County.  He survives.  Other survivors include children, Christine (Jason) Funk of Mclouth, Kansas, Rachelle Peters (Robert Diggs) of Topeka, five grandchildren, Tanner, Elizabeth, Sarah, Madeline and Tatum, her sister, Willa Jean (Lloyd) Pearson of Tonganoxie, Kansas and her brother-in-law, Larry Steere of Arlington, Texas.  

Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Kay Steere. 

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Community Christian Church, 18 McCardell St. in Council Grove.  Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the church.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Highland Heights Christian Church Tribe Youth Group, 2930 S.E. Tecumseh Rd., Tecumseh, Kansas  66542 or to the Community Christian Church in Council Grove.
