Marilyn had many gardens thru the years.  She canned fruits and vegetables, made her famous red cucumber pickles for all the grandkids and enjoyed working outside weeding the garden or helping Carl.  They enjoyed playing cards with family and get-togethers with family and friends.  She was always cooking something and made sure everyone had plenty to eat at family gatherings.   She loved family gatherings and lived for time to spend with her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death were her parents and siblings, sister Fern (Roberts) Axe and her husband Clifford of Desert Shores, CA, brother Calvin Roberts and his wife Doris of Valley Center, and brother Lynn M. Roberts of Emporia.

Survivors are sister-in-laws:  Clara Roberts of Emporia, Linda Clough, Jo Ziegenhirt both of Alta Vista and ZoAnn Gugenhaun of Randoph, Ks. Surviving children are:  daughter Carla (Ziegenhirt) Chase of Emporia, son Donald Ziegenhirt and his wife Christy of Council Grove and daughter Cindy (Ziegenhirt) White of Emporia. Surviving grandchildren are:  Michael Chase of Emporia, Mark Chase and his wife Natasha of Emporia, Jana (Chase) Phillips and her husband Justin of Tribune, Ks.  Derek Ziegenhirt of Overland Park, Casey (Ziegenhirt) Cowdin and her husband Troy of Council Grove, Jacob Ziegenhirt of Manhattan, Danielle Andersen of New Hampshire, “Remy” Rachael Andersen of Maine and Jacquelyn Andersen of Omaha, Ne.  Surviving great-grandchildren are:  Jackson and Jacelyn Phillips of Tribune, Aryona and Tagen Zimmerman, Mason and Nellie Chase of Emporia, Braxton and Vaylen Srack of Salina.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 27th from 4:00-6:00pm, at the Council Grove Christian Church.  Funeral services will be Monday, March 28th at 10:00am, also at the Christian Church.  Burial will be immediately following the service at the Alta Vista Cemetery.  Please allow traveling time as Hwy 177 will have detours on country roads North of Council Grove.  Memorial contributions may be made to Marilyn Ziegenhirt Memorial Fund, which will be designated later.  To share a memory or message visit www.sawyerchapel.com.

My special aunt Marilyn. When my mom(her sister, Fern) passed away, Marilyn said I've decided to call each of you kids (5 of us) one each week to check on you. For 18 years she has faithfully called one of us every week, just like she said. Always full of love and concern, she was the best. She will be missed.
