Juliana Marie Hayes

Juliana Marie McClellan Hayes of Council Grove, KS, departed this earth on May 22, 2023, her 37th birthday, after waging war with cervical cancer.

Juliana was born on May 22, 1986, in Shawnee Mission, KS to Denise McClellan.  She maintained a close relationship with her mother and her brother, Mark McClellan, throughout her entire life.  Her stepfather, Gary Ramsey, came into her life in 1993 and was the best father she could ask for.  She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 2004 and went on to become a licensed massage therapist, although her greatest passion in life was being a mother to her three sons, Brayden Andrew (18), Samuel Wiley (14), and Maddox Clifford (12).  Juliana loved being a mother more than anything else and did everything she possibly could to give them a loving, nurturing home.

She met the love of her life, Nathan Hayes, in 2016.  They settled down in his hometown of Council Grove, KS where they raised the three boys and the pups together, and officially tied the knot on June 4, 2022.  Juli adored living near Nate’s family and raising her boys in a small town.

Juliana had an amazing sense of humor, beautiful smile, and a kind soul.  She had a way of seeing the best in everyone, looking right into their heart to see their true intentions.  She rarely met someone who she did not like.  She had a deep love for animals and spent much of her childhood attempting to convince her mother (often successfully) that she needed various pets, including but not limited to a beta fish, dogs, cats, a rabbit (and it’s eight babies), a sugar glider, a tree frog, a hamster, a bearded dragon, a cow, and a baby pig.  She leaves behind two good pups that miss her loving cuddles.

Juliana enjoyed Pinterest and could be found in the kitchen trying out delicious new recipes, or in Hobby Lobby, Target, or on Amazon Prime looking for ways to redecorate, much to her husband’s dismay.  We send condolences to the Amazon delivery driver, who will most certainly miss seeing her every day.

Juliana is survived by her husband, Nathan, sons Brayden, Samuel, and Maddox of the home, her mother and dad Denise McClellan & Gary Ramsey, a brother Mark McClellan all of Prairie Village, KS and a grandmother Rebecca Cunningham of Lenexa, KS. She is also survived by her stepsister Tina Hillman of Harrisonville, MO, stepbrother Gary Ramsey of Kansas City, KS, her aunts and uncles Amy and Tom Burke of Shawnee, KS, and Nicole and Mark Cunningham of Merriam, KS, her many cousins, one in which was her best friend, Megan Thurston of Odessa, MO. Other survivors include her father and mother-in-law, Brad and Kristie Hayes, brother-in-law Ryne Hayes (Michele) all of Council Grove, KS, sister-in-law Kailea Horn (Jareyd) of Bixby, OK, as well as nieces and nephews whom she adored.

She is preceded in death by her “Pop-Pop”, Wayne Clifford Cunningham, and many beloved pets.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Congregational Church at 400 W Main Street, Council Grove, KS 66846 on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 10:00am. The family will meet with friends at Council Grove Reservoir Canning Creek Cove Osage Shelter house immediately following the service.
