Joyce Sellin

Joyce Jane Sellin passed away on March 21, 2026, at Diversicare in Council Grove. She was born on February 13, 1940, in Herington, Kansas, to Mary Hellbach and Walter Carl Sellin.

Joyce was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Latimer. She graduated from Woodbine School in 1958 and grew up on a farm north of Herington, where she helped with daily chores, including milking cows.

She dedicated 29 years of service to Morris County Hospital, working in housekeeping. Joyce had a deep love for horses—she enjoyed watching races, reading about them, and even attended the Kentucky Derby. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the L.W.M.L. in Council Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Thelma Muehlenburg, Delores Grantham, Frances McKinney, and Jerry Sellin. She is survived by four nieces, one nephew, their families, and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Council Grove, with burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in White City, Kansas.
