Gloria Jean Block

February 28, 1943 — September 6, 2022

Gloria Jean Block “Dodie” 79, of Alta Vista, Kansas passed away September 6, 2022, at her residence.

She was born in Sacramento, California, the daughter of Lyman and Bonnie (Bronson) Crary, Jr. 

Gloria met Robert Block, Jr. in Colorado while he was in the USAF, and they were married on February 18, 1962.  After Bob was honorably discharged from the service, they moved to rural Alta Vista, where they made their home and raised their children. 

Dodie attended CMA classes and started working in 1979 at the Country Club Nursing Home.  She worked until 2012, when she retired.  She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, sewing everything from pillows to clothes.  She loved mowing and would do anything that needed to be done on the farm.

Dodie was preceded in death by parents, and brother Sonny Crary.  She is survived by her husband Robert, of the home; daughter Susan Martin and Keith Streeter, of Alta Vista; son Mark Block, of Dwight; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, September 12th, at Prairie View Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to COPD Foundation.
