Alvin Stone

Fredrick Alvin Stone, 82 years of age of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, May 4, 2025.

He was born on January 20, 1943, in Parkerville, Kansas to George and Marjorie (Roberts) Stone.

Alvin married the love of his life, Carla Good in 1965. They resided in Council Grove where they raised 3 daughters and Alvin worked various jobs, including owning A&C Western Shop where he did boot, shoe and saddle repair. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation and later retired from there.

Alvin served in the Kansas Army National Guard for 6 years with one and half of those years being active duty in Fort Carson, Colorado.

In his spare time, Alvin enjoyed woodworking, especially making things for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Alvin was a faithful member of the Berean Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and drove the church bus for many years. He loved serving the Lord and was always available to do what was needed. He was a generous man known for lending a helping hand.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, George Stone and Marjorie Casey; brothers, Wayne Stone and Tom Stone; sisters, Sally Hesser, JoAnn Ghumm, Joyce Stone, and Elaine Jackson; grandson, Caleb Monroe.

Survivors include his wife, Carla Stone, Council Grove; daughters, Angela Ruiz, Council Grove, Tresea Stone, Derby, KS, Fonda Schlereth,(Jared), St. Joseph, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Buckridge, Junction City, KS, Carol Grover, Wamego, KS; brother, Roy Stone,(Carol), Fort Collins, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Berean Baptist Church on May 12, at 10:00 am. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am, with interment following at Sunny Slope Cemetery.
