Davy Lee Picolet

Davy Lee Picolet, of Tecumseh, formerly of Council Grove, Kansas passed away on Saturday May 3rd, 2025. He was born December 1, 1942, in Dwight, KS, the son of David and Ethel (Iseli) Picolet. After graduating high school in 1960 Davy completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and was in the Air Force in flight simulation at Travis Air Force Base, CA for a few years. Davy married Mary Cashman in 1966 and resided in Council Grove for most of their married life until moving to Tecumseh, KS in 2014.

After the Air Force, Davy along with his wife owned multiple theaters in Council Grove, Clay Center and Washington, Kansas. As the movie industry evolved the two opened a video store in Council Grove and Davy spent many days switching out videos in gas stations and smaller towns all around Kansas that didn't yet have video stores in the area. He also owned many rental properties for several decades. Even though these businesses took a lot of work, he managed to be the local go-to if someone needed a TV, VCR or camcorder fixed. The love for fixing things lasted his entire life. Over his final years he had a passion for fixing clocks. He might go garage saling on a Saturday morning and come home with someone's grandfather clock as a project to repair. A few years prior to moving to Tecumseh, Davy also worked at the Morris County Recycle center.

He will be remembered as a man who loved to work and go to auctions. He had a wealth of knowledge. Every day he was ready for a new project even until the week before his passing.

Davy is preceded in death by his parents David and Ethel, his wife Mary, and brother Ralph (Resa) Picolet. Survivors include children, Christine (Jason) Funk of McLouth, Rachelle Peters (Robert Diggs) of Topeka, 5 grandchildren and brothers Charley (Brenda) Picolet, Dallas Picolet both of Dwight, KS and Reta Hooper of Council Grove.Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Community Christian Church, 18 McCardell St., Council Grove, KS.
