David Williams passed away November 7, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
He is survived by his two sons, Bobbie (Melissa) Williams and Josh Williams; three beloved grandchildren, Hunter (Allie) Williams, Melanie Williams, and Hailey Williams; and brother, Richard Williams. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his soon-to-be-born great-granddaughter, lovingly known as “Peanut.”
David was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ruth Williams; his brother, Dean Williams; and his sister, Patricia Valdez.
David had a lifelong passion for football. He played for Council Grove High School as a tackle on both sides of the ball, and his love for the game continued throughout his life—especially when the Kansas City Chiefs or K-State Wildcats were playing.
A true car enthusiast, David took great pride in his 1966 Chevelle SS. He also loved celebrating the 4th of July, hosting family and friends each year at his country home for fireworks, cookouts, and unforgettable gatherings.
For several years, he enjoyed playing in a dart league alongside his two sons. Known affectionately as “Haas” by his coworkers during his time as a pusher at IBP, David was hardworking and respected by all who knew him.
Over time, he built a successful business career, starting with one rental property and eventually growing Williams Rentals into a large collection of properties. He also ventured into the car wash and detailing industry, founding Hydra King Carwash and Detailing.
David was known for his trademark sleeveless shirts—unless the weather forced him into something warmer. He had a special love for his dogs over the years, each one a treasured companion.
Those who knew David will remember his huge heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and everything he did was with his family in mind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to David Williams Memorial Fund. They may be sent in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
