David Wesley Cullip was born in Emporia, Kansas, to Dave L. Cullip & Lu (Pitts) O'Hara. David left his earthly constraints on October 20th, 2025, at the age of 45. David was very athletic. Once he got 3 quarterback sacks in a single game and at one point he held a junior high track record. He loved life. He enjoyed swimming, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. David was tragically involved in a hunting accident, his freshman year of High School, which left him paralyzed at the age of 14. He continued being athletic playing wheelchair basketball, tennis, and baseball. He could even still do handstands, which he often did on the school bus. He graduated from Mission Valley High School in 1999. He attended Allen County Community College. He later moved to Denver where he played for the Colorado Rockies (wheelchair division). Eventually he moved back to Kansas. Living in Topeka he very much enjoyed local government. He attended the city council meetings and participated on the ADA Advisory committee.
In 2014, David made his way to Council Grove. More recently in life he enjoyed playing weekly poker with the guys and giving them a hard time. He found such enjoyment in making people laugh. He loved entertaining his niece(s), and nephew(s) playing Phase 10, and Uno and could also often be found doing wheelchair races around the neighborhood with them. He was also a gamer. He absolutely loved playing video games with friends, and family. He loved his family dearly and cheered loudly for them. David's personality was larger than life.
David is survived by his mother, Lu O'Hara, of Council Grove, Kansas. His siblings Randi (Liz) Beckett Jr. of Peoria, Arizona, Megan (Keith) Wyatt of Council Grove, Kansas, and Daniel (Jessica) Hoffer of Blair, Nebraska. Nieces and Nephews: Shandra, and Zach Beckett, Zephyr O'Hara, Mazzy and Hawkston Wyatt, and Addelyn, Ryver, and Rowan Hoffer. He is also survived by 1 Great Niece, and 3 Great Nephews, a plethora of cousins, Aunts, and Uncles. He is proceeded in death by his dad, Dave Cullip, his stepdad Dennis O'Hara, his grandparents David and Lena Pitts, and Walter and Ruth Kemp.
A Celebration of Life will be held for David at 11 am, on November 15, 2025. Service will be held at Lull Meadows (little red schoolhouse North of town): 1134 K-177 Council Grove KS.
