Clara passed away September 15, 2025, at Nemaha County Community Hospital in Seneca, Kansas. Clara “Tudy” Frakes Horn was born October 29, 1935, in Kansas City Kansas, to Mary Louise “Coffey” Frakes and Albert Jefferson Frakes. Tudy was the second oldest of 6 children.
Tudy met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Lee Horn, on a blind date. After their date she came home and told her mother that she was going to marry that boy. Tudy and Bob were married December 10, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas, and were married 45 years, until Bob’s death, December 12, 1996.
Tudy and Bob welcomed their only child, Sherri Lynn, December 23, 1965. Tudy was a loving and caring mother. Sherri was the center of her world. Tudy took swim lessons just so she could protect Sherri. Tudy loved her daughter unconditionally and was always there to support her. She always had great advice. She often shared her gut instinct. Her daughter and grandchildren always went to her with special prayer requests, saying that grandma’s prayers seemed to always get answered. Tudy was always strong in her Catholic faith.
Tudy loved to crochet and loved teaching others. She enjoyed decorating cakes for her grandchildren and for her mother’s senior citizen’s group. Tudy was known for her spunk and no-nonsense approach. Her pride and joy, aside from her daughter, were her grandchildren. She was always there to support them in whatever they were doing. She spoiled them by making them hotcakes when they had sleepovers. She was equally in love with her great grandchildren. She loved their visits and facetime. Tudy took pride in being a housewife and a caregiver. She had the privilege of caring for her mother until she passed at age 96.
Tudy moved from Kansas City to Dwight, Kansas where she lived for 51 years. In 2019, she moved to Seneca to be near her daughter. Tudy resided at Life Care of Seneca, where she made many friends. She grew to be quite the storyteller and entertaining to the staff.
