Carol Elaine Lee, 76, of Emporia, formerly of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Born in Emporia on September 5, 1948, to Chester and Irma Irene (Irmarene) Miller, Carol was a proud graduate of Americus High School, Class of 1966. That same year, she completed a Dental Assisting program at Flint Hills Technical College, later returning in 1995 to earn a second degree in Office Technology—reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning and growth.
Carol devoted her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. Early in her career, she worked at Crawford and Dolly Madison in Emporia. For many years, she provided loving care to children at the daycare center in Americus, where she became a beloved and trusted presence in the lives of many families. She took great joy in seeing the children she once cared for grow into adults and loved keeping up with their lives.
Carol also served as a Registrar for Stormont Vail in Emporia and later retired from the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF), where she continued to support families with compassion and dedication.
Above all, Carol will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle nature, and unwavering love. She was a devoted mother to her son, Chad, and a cherished mother-in-law to Dana. Her kindness, patience, and quiet strength touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the enduring legacy of care and compassion she leaves behind.
A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
