Barbara Jean Crable

Barbara Jean Crable age 89, of White City walked into the arms of her Savior on May 22, 2023. 

Barbara was born on November 13, 1933, in Kansas City, Kansas to Carl and Esther (Traxler) Harrison. She was the oldest of three children. Her mother made sure that Barbara and her brother Jonny attended Sunday School no matter where they lived.  She graduated from Michigan Valley in 1950.

Barbara met the love of her life, Robert Crable when he started hauling the milk from their farm. They were married November 18, 1950.  Barbara and Robert were blessed with four children.  Barbara was a homemaker for most of her life but had a home daycare for about 12 years where many children were rocked and cared for, as well as working at White City Schools as a cook for a few years.  In 1979, Barbara started attending Parkerville Baptist Church where she became a member and attended up until her death.  

Barbara loved the Lord and reflected His grace throughout her lifetime. She had a strong passion for sharing her love of Jesus with her family and children in the community.  Barbara taught Sunday School, held Bible Club in her home, and was a leader in Awana.  She was a beautiful example of service throughout her lifetime. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert Crable; her parents Carl and Esther; her sister Carlene Yarnell; and her daughter Vicki Coons. 

Barbara is survived by her brother Jonny Harrison of Frontenac, KS, son Steve (Kris) Crable of Bucklin, KS, son Denny Crable of White City, KS, daughter Annette (Billy) Rice of White City, KS, 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.   

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Parkerville Baptist Church.  In honor of her life, memorials to the Parkerville Baptist Church or The City Public Library has been chosen and may be sent to Sawyer Funeral Home.
