Andrew (Andy) K Blythe, age 94, passed away July 5, 2024 in Council Grove, Kansas. Andy was born September 23, 1929, in Dwight, Kansas, to Cephus Carey and Lottie May (Weston) Blythe. 

Andy grew up in Dwight Kansas and helped his father driving a milk truck at a very early age. Then prior to joining the Air Force, Andy worked for the Morris County Highway Department for 2 years. 

Andy joined the Air Force at the age of 17. He served from Oct 1947 to October 1951. While stationed in Japan and Korea he received commendations and awards including 2 bronze stars, Japan Service Award, Occupation Japan Service Medal, Republic of Korea Service Medal, and Republic of Korean Citation Award. 

After returning from service Andy met Ann Marie Cornelius at a local skating rink where She asked Him to skate. They were married January 17, 1953 and they raised six children. 

Andy had many talents. He was a very talented carpenter and welder. But when the workweek was done, Andy enjoyed boating, skiing, and motor cycle riding. He even customized a Volkswagon Trike. Utilizing his many talents Andy was able to create, build, and construct numerous “toys” for all ages and he shared his love of play with his children and grandchildren. 

Andy is survived by his children Deb (Dale) Andres, Dave Blythe, Pam (Greg) Kline, and Kelley Blythe; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; siblings Audra Wehling and Cecil (Laynetta) Blythe. 

Andy was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years; infant daughter Jeannie Marie Blythe; sons Robert Allen Blythe and James Cephus Blythe; his parents; siblings Cephus Blythe (infant), Elaine Blanton, Bill Blythe, Sara Kerstetter, Bob Blythe, and Don Blythe. 

A memorial service will be held on August 10, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Dwight Community Church, 523 7th St, Dwight, Kansas 66849 

Andy had a great love of reading later in his life - memorial contributions may be made to the Council Grove public Library.
