Alice Clare Allen

Alice Allen of Council Grove passed away at the age of 99 on January 28, 2026.

Alice was born on January 15,1927 to the parents of Grover and Nelle McCrabb. She married Dean Allen on February 14,1947. Alice and Dean had a long and happy life together for 72 years before Dean passed away in 2019. They had 2 children, Gary (Patricia) Allen of Council Grove and Rhonda (Barry) Swisher of Baldwin City, KS.

Alice has 4 grandchildren, Allen (Val) Swisher, Matt (Ashley) Swisher, Chad (Socorro) Allen and Tammy Schmidt; 9 great grandchildren, Tanner and Chase Swisher, Mason, Emily and Haydon Allen, Logan, Owen and Emma Schmidt and Kennedy Swisher; and 2 great-great-granddaughters, Naomi and Isla Swisher.

Alice was active in her community with PTO, leader of PEO sisterhood, and being involved in activities with her children. She loved going to watch her grandchildren play ball.

Alice worked for JCPenney while living in Garden City and El Dorado, KS. She worked for JCP for 20 years. After retiring they returned to Council Grove. Alice was proud of her children, grandchildren, greats and great greats and she enjoyed all her family get togethers.
