Charles Dale Morrison

April 1, 1942 ~ October 1, 2019 (age 77)

White City - Charles Dale Morrison, 77 of White City, Kansas, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 of liver cancer.

Dale was born April 1, 1942 in Dickinson County, Kansas on the family farm. He was born to Charles Squire and Ellen Adell (Alexander) Morrison.

Dale’s family lived in the country in Dickinson County where he grew up. He attended school and graduated from Solomon High School in 1960. Dale knew at a very young age that he wanted to be a farmer.  He raised crops, custom cut, raised hogs and learned to build, repair and maintain vehicles and farm equipment.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in Dickinson County and served his country from 1964 – 1970.

Dale married June Ella Hunter on June 6, 1964 in White City, KS. They resided in Dickinson County from 1964 – 1972, where Dale ran a mechanic shop with his father Charles (Junior), custom fed, raised crops and hogs during that time. In 1972, Dale and June moved to the White City area and bought a farm just south of White City. Dale grew his hog farm to include at one time having over 800 head of hogs.  He started in the cattle business at this time, purchasing 10 head of cattle and grew his herd from there.

Dale was involved and donated his time and talents in various activities around the community; White City American Legion, United Methodist Church, White City Ball Fields, Fourth of July Celebrations and Activities, White City Saddle Club, Young Farmers Club, among others.  Dale gave his time to family, friends and neighbors and was always willing to help whenever needed.  He was loved by family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dale is survived by his wife June of 55 years; 2 daughters, Gina and husband John Weigel of Wakeeney and Penny and husband Chris Scarff of Junction City; son-in-law Greg Carson; 13 grandchildren;  17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Cheryl and husband Joe Riley of Eugene, OR and Sheila Cook of Solomon; brother-in-law Richard Hunter and his wife Marlin of Littleton, Co.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy on February 3, 2013; his parents, Charles (Junior) and Ellen Morrison; his sister, Connie Adell Morrison; brother Lonnie Morrison; and  father and mother-in-law, Allen and Ella Hunter.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Simmons Fellowship Hall in White City, from 2:00 – 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions honoring the life of Dale Morrison, they may be made to White City Fire Department or White City United Methodist Church. Memorial Contributions can be sent to June Morrison, 2290 J Ave, White City, KS 66872.
